Watch PCS live with Fran Heathcote 7pm 19 February

Got a question about the PCS national campaign? Ask it at a special online meeting at 7pm on Monday (19).

We want to hear your views on how we take forward our campaign and we are launching an online consultation survey from 20 February to 5 March on our new national campaign demands. Ahead of this we are hosting an online event at 7pm on Monday (19), chaired by acting president Martin Cavanagh and with general secretary Fran Heathcote addressing members and answering questions.

The PCS national executive committee (NEC) met yesterday (14) to discuss the next steps in our national campaign. As part of our ongoing campaign of all-out and targeted strike action the UK Government was forced to make concessions on pay and redundancy terms and committed to a series of talks on job security, low pay and pay coherence.

We will be in the Court of Appeal on 20 February to fight our case on pensions.

Our pay demands for 2024/25 to the UK government include:

  • a cost-of-living rise, plus pay restoration for previous years
  • pay equality across departments on the best possible terms,
  • a living wage of £15 per hour,
  • London weighting provision of a minimum £5,000 per year,
  • 35 days annual leave minimum,
  • a significant shortening of the working week with no loss of pay.

Members in the Scottish devolved sector are currently in a two-year pay deal, so the questions we ask them in the consultation will be slightly different there than in other areas.

The NEC will look at the survey results and make any necessary decisions at its meeting in March. It is likely that strike action will be part of our campaign and it is essential that you ensure your details (particularly ballot address, email and workplace) are up to date on PCS Digital.
