Use the e-action to fight de-recognition of PCS at the Imperial War Museum

The e-action sends an email to the director general asking her to halt plans to derecognise PCS, and preserve workers' voices and rights.

On 6 March, Imperial War Museum Director Francoise Harris wrote to PCS, FDA and Prospect unions confirming that they wish to derecognise PCS and FDA and move forward with only one union, Prospect.

The three unions, Prospect, PCS, and FDA have a constructive and collaborative relationship and all three have appealed to management at the IWM not to derecognise PCS and FDA.

Imperial War Museum (IWM) is based over five sites:

  • Imperial War Muesum London
  • Churchill War rooms
  • IWM North (in Manchester)
  • HMS Belfast
  • IWM Duxford.

Derecognising PCS would undermine the principles of democracy and representation in the workplace. It would leave staff vulnerable to arbitrary decisions by management, with little recourse for addressing grievances or negotiating fair terms of employment. Derecognising any union can have significant negative effects including the inability to negotiate for fair wages and benefits. It is also an attack on the IWM workers democratic choices. The decision to derecognise PCS disregards the democratic choices made by the workforce in electing us as their representative.

Completing the TUC's e-action sends an email to Caro Howell, the director general of IWM, supporting support our campaign to maintain recognition and urging IWM management to halt its plans to derecognise PCS.

To complete the e-action takes less than a minute; just complete your name, email address and postcode. Please support our members.
