Support striking ISS workers in three Whitehall departments

Read about the current ISS strike in London and how you can support them to win.

Outsourced PCS members who provide cleaning, security and other facilities management services to three major Whitehall departments are to take a further 36 days of action in their dispute.

Workers employed by ISS at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Department for Business and Trade, and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology sites in London have already taken ten days of action since September.

Nearly 100 PCS members are in dispute over a below inflation pay rise of just 2.2%. They are also demanding job security and that PCS is recognised as their trade union.

ISS is now one of the largest outsourcing companies providing services to the civil service having recently won many new facilities management contracts due to start on the 1 November. Since 2019, these PCS members have demonstrated that being organised collectively through their trade union gets results. They have won improvements to their employment terms year on year and now have the highest pay rates and best conditions of any FM worker across Whitehall. If these workers win, it will make it easier for ISS workers at other government departments to win too.

You can support them by:

1. Adding your name to the tens of thousands of supporters who have signed their petition

2. Donating to the PCS strike fund.
