Register for our national equality seminars

We are holding four seminars for disabled, women, black and LGBT+ members in Birmingham this autumn.

Our seminars are aimed at any members with an interest in equality and who want to progress and improve the equality agenda in their workplace or branch. The seminars are open to reps and also to members who would like to become more active in PCS.

Seminar dates and deadlines to register

  • Disabled: September 23 and 24 (deadline 1 September)
  • Women: October 7 and 8 (deadline 15 September)
  • Black: October 28 and 29 (deadline 6 October)
  • LGBT+: November 25 and 26 (deadline 2 November)

All seminars will take place in Birmingham, at the Park Regis Hotel.

Please apply for no more than two seminars as we aim to have the widest number of members participating. There are 40 places available at each one.

As well as addressing equality issues, there will be an element of organising – with the aim that members will return to their workplaces encouraged to become more active in equality matters and the union in general.

Please apply online to attend. You will be asked for dietary requirements, any accessibility needs and be able to register for a creche place if needed. You will also be asked to complete a short statement asking why you wish to attend. Refreshments will be provided on both days and accommodation for those not local to Birmingham. PCS will cover travel costs.

Please contact the PCS equality department if you have any questions about attending: equality@pcs.org.uk.

*Please note, ‘Black’ is used in the political context to apply to people who are Asian, Chinese, African, African/Caribbean, Arabic etc. i.e. people from African and Asian Diaspora, including people of dual heritage.
