PCS to host Fringe Events at Labour Party Conference

One focuses on what a Labour government would do to solve the cost-of-living crisis, the second is on Safe Passage for refugees.

PCS are to host two Fringe events at the Labour Party Conference which is being held in Liverpool from 8 to 11 October 2023.

With a general election looming in 2024 it is essential that as a union we are asking the questions of prospective candidates on their views and policies which affect our members and ensure our voice is heard.

The first event will be on Monday 9 October at 11am in The Mersey Suite at the Pullman Hotel:

What can a Labour Government do to solve the Cost of Living crisis for Government workers?

Chaired by national president Fran Heathcote, speakers will include Paul Nowak, TUC general secretary and Beth Winter MP. Angela Rayner, shadow first secretary of state has also been invited to speak.

The second event will take place on Tuesday 10 October at 10am in Meeting Room 21, at the Convention Centre:

Safe Passage – a humane and effective way to stop the boats

This is a joint fringe hosted by PCS, Labourlist, NEU and FBU. It will be chaired by Tom Belger of Labourlist. Speakers will be Vernon Coaker, shadow Home Office spokesperson, Paul O’Connor, PCS head of bargaining, Claire Moseley, Care4Calais founder, Emma Rose, NEU president and Riccardo La Torre, FBU national officer.

Both events are open to all delegates at Labour Party Conference.
