Online donations to strike fund pass £20,000

Supporters are continuing to help striking PCS members by donating and fundraising.

Online donations to our strike fund were set up last year during the targeted strike action taken by PCS members as part of our national campaign over pay, pensions, redundancy rights and job security.

The fund supports members taking targeted action, to ensure that they do not suffer financially while they are on strike.

The donations now stand at nearly £21,000.

It is easy to donate online. If you wish your donation to be directed to a particular group, you can put this in your reference.

For example, you may wish to support the current strike action being taken by members employed by Fujitsu, which is what Mick has done. He donated £50 to the strike fund saying “This is for my mates who are on strike due to the greed of their employer.”

Similarly, Stephen from The Pensions Regulator donated £230 to their striking members and said “In solidarity with my colleagues at the Pensions Regulator - and with many thanks for the campaign and financial support from PCS, which is greatly appreciated by us all. Let's hope we finally get a breakthrough soon in the New Year.”

One PCS member made a donation after receiving help from her workplace rep. She said “Thank you…..His support, time and advice have – and still do – greatly helped me within my employment at DWP.”

There have also been fundraising events, such as the event held in London’s Civil Service Club Dining Room in December. The event involved poetry, a choir, raffle, quiz and a buffet and afterwards and made £410 for the strike fund which was donated online.
