Last chance to join PCS to vote in our strike ballot

Join by Sunday 21 April to vote in our ballot for strike action over our national campaign demands.

In 2023, the action taken by thousands of PCS members forced the government to more than double its initial pay offer and pay a cost-of-living payment of £1,500.

We have not had a response from the government to our pay demands for 2024/2025 and are therefore balloting members in 171 departments to ask if they are willing to take strike action again. Members in the Scottish Government Sector are not included as they are covered by a separate two-year pay deal. Check our list to see if your employer is one of the 171 included in the ballot.

Our postal ballot for strike action opened on 18 March and closes on 13 May.

The more members we have, and the more members who vote, the greater the pressure is on the government to make an acceptable offer. It will also increase the impact of any strike action.

It’s not too late to join PCS and vote.

New members

New members in the employer areas covered by the ballot who join before noon on Sunday 21 April will be included in the ballot automatically. You should allow up to 12 working days from the date of joining before receiving a ballot paper, because of the way the ballot is being organised by the independent scrutineers.

Find out more about the ballot on our FAQs web page.
