Jobcentre security guards set to strike for 7 days

Security guards working in jobcentres across the UK will strike for 7 days in support of fair pay from midnight on 17 June. The 200 PCS members are joining their comrades from GMB in taking action.

PCS has served notice for a week of strike action on G4S for members working on the DWP contract. These members work in jobcentres and DWP back-of-house areas providing essential security that assists in keeping DWP employees and claimants safe.

G4S, which turns over billions of pounds every year, is a minimum wage employer and continues to refuse to pay a decent pay increase to a group of workers, many of whom face violence in the workplace every working day.

We demand that G4S gets back round the table and starts to meaningfully address the chronic low pay experienced by a group of workers who put their bodies on the line every day to keep civil servants and the public safe.

We are holding an online meeting for PCS G4S members working on the DWP contract at 9am on Wednesday (5 June). A link to a Zoom meeting will be sent to members by email and text on Monday.
