Ian Lavery MP joins campaign to reinstate sacked Benton Park View reps

Benton Park View activists were joined on site yesterday (7) by Labour MP Ian Lavery while campaigning for the reinstatement of our three sacked reps in HMRC.

The activists have been taking part in weekly leafletting sessions and asking members to sign our petition that demands the reinstatement of our three reps, and for an end to any further victimisation of members in HMRC.

Hundreds of PCS members have already signed the petition, showing the strength of feeling amongst the staff about this injustice.

Political support for Benton reps grows

Benton Park reps have had brilliant support from local elected MPs, including Mary Glindon, who will be speaking at a campaign meeting for members and supporters on Tuesday (13).

Hundreds of PCS members from across the union have written to their local MP, asking them to sign our early day motion (EDM). You can ask your local MP to sign by taking part in our e-action.

Speaking to members at Benton yesterday, Ian Lavery MP said:  “Having attended the PCS leafletting sessions this morning and talking to the PCS reps, including two of the sacked individuals, it became clear that HMRC are clearly focused on the workplace representatives and looking for any reason to silence the union at work.

“This cannot be allowed to continue. People need a voice at work; attempts to run roughshod over the democratically-elected workers should be resisted by all at Benton.”

“The sacked workers and the PCS union have my full support.”
