Eid Mubarak!

As many of our Muslim members and colleagues prepare to celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan, we wish them a very happy Eid al-Fitr.

Eid al-Fitr begins when the new crescent moon is sighted at night and the month of Ramadan ends. This is likely to be on Wednesday 10 April. Where the month of Ramadan is one of fasting and devotion, its end sees a day of praise and celebration.

Many Muslims will take the day off to pray in the congregation, make a charitable donation (called Zakat al-Fitr), and enjoy time with friends and family. During Eid al-Fitr, people often dress up in their finest clothes, exchange gifts with loved ones, and enjoy a meal together. This meal usually includes a variety of sweet dishes, which is why the occasion is sometimes known as "Sweet Eid" to celebrate the joyous completion of the month-long fasting period.

Solidarity to Muslim members celebrating Eid al-Fitr and to all those celebrating with Muslim friends. We wish everyone a very happy Eid al-Fitr.
