The way you vote has CHANGED. 2024 is set to be a big election year in the UK. With local elections across much of England in May, elections for English mayors, Welsh and English police and crime commissioners and a general election on the horizon, we need to be ready.

The way you vote has changed
Voters now need to show photo ID when casting their vote at a polling station.

14,000 people (and probably more) lost their vote at last May’s local elections in

England because they didn’t have an accepted form of ID.

The new voter ID requirements threaten to deny those communities least likely to have the required ID their chance to participate in our democracy.

The deadline to register to vote in the Local, Mayoral and London Assembly elections in England and the Police and Crime Commissioners elections (England and Wales) on Thursday 2 May is Tuesday 16 April.
