PCS recognises sexual harassment is prevalent in society and workplaces. Research done by the TUC found over 1 in 2 women and nearly 7 out of 10 LGBT workers are sexually harassed in the workplace.

In October, the Worker Protection Act (Amendment to the Equality Act 2010) comes into force which puts the onus on employers to take reasonable steps to tackle and prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

In response to motion A64 on sexual harassment passed at our national conference in 2023, PCS is delivering an online sexual harassment conference on Thursday 25 April 12.30pm – 5pm. The conference aims to raise awareness of sexual harassment in the workplace during Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.

The conference will be hosted by Jackie Green, PCS National Vice President and Chair of PCS National Women’s Forum (NWF). Members will hear from the PCS Legal Department, PCS campaigns and parliamentary department, and the Met Police. There will be opportunities to ask questions.

Key speaker will be Fran Heathcote, PCS General secretary.

The conference is open to all members to attend. It will be recorded and there will be transcription and live captions available.

Please register online to attend the conference. The deadline to register is noon on Wednesday 24 April. Registered members will be sent an email with the Zoom joining details.
