The International Day of Older Persons is celebrated each year on 1 October and events are held throughout the month. PCS Associate and Retired Members (ARMs) are hosting a Zoom event from 12.30-2pm on Friday, 13 October.

The theme for 2023 is “Resilience of older persons in a changing world”. It reflects the challenges and opportunities that older people face and highlights the importance of promoting their rights, dignity and well-being in all aspects of society.

The issues that older people face are the same as everyone else faces; access to health care, the state of the transport systems and we mustn’t forget, if you are young now, one day you will be old.

Guest speakers will be:

  • Mal Mutton, Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry and member of PCS ARMs
  • Debbie de Spon, Communications Director of Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI)
  • A campaigner for migrant rights (to be confirmed).

The event is open to all PCS members as the theme is relevant to working members and their families, as well as to partially retired and associate members.

If you would like to join this event please email Jacquie Hadfield, ARMs National Committee Vice-chair, at vice-chair@arms-pcs.org.uk and you will be sent the Zoom link.
