All PCS members and activists

British Sign Language (BSL) was finally recognised as an official language under UK law on 28 April 2022.

PCS understands the importance of supporting our deaf members in the workplace, and this bitesize session is an opportunity for members and reps to learn the basic principles of British Sign Language, as well as to learn how to sign some simple words.

The tutor is Sarah Lawrence, from Deaf Friendly - her colleague Simon Deacy will provide voice.

Deaf Friendly provides BSL and Deaf Awareness training, English-to-BSL translations, and consultancy services to a wide range of organisations across the UK, including Cardiff Council, Dyfed Powys Police, Welsh Fire Service, Cardiff and South Wales Universities, the WRU, and a range of schools and other organisations.

The event will be chaired by Hannah David, PCS vice president and chair of the National Disabled Members Forum.

Delivered online via Microsoft Teams, the joining link will be sent to your personal email address prior to the session.

This event will be recorded.

You will need to be logged into your PCS Digital account to secure a place. Not yet registered on PCS Digital? Watch this short video to find out how.
