After a decade of real terms funding cuts, the culture sector is now in crisis. As inflation hit 20% (12-month RPI as of Oct 2022) the libraries pay award for this year was less than 5% - equating to a double-digit real terms pay-cut. As food prices continue to soar, rents rise, train fares increase, and the energy support scheme ends, members are left with no choice but to take strike action.
