Prepared to fight and defeat the far right

PCS President Martin Cavanagh spoke to thousands of people at the Stand Up To Racism march and rally in London on Saturday (27) and said we are prepared to fight the far right and win.

We are facing the greatest threat that we have faced for generations. We know the far right are emboldened; their politics of hatred are spreading in our communities.

Our task is very simple, we tell the far right what our forebears have told them: fascists are never welcome in our communities, never welcome in our streets. And I give you one example of what we mean in PCS by fighting racism and fascism. Our brave members in the Home Office stood up to the Tory government when they tried to smash the immigration system. They tried to make our members force people back into the Channel to almost certain death and our members said no, not on our watch. And we stopped that in its tracks before we got to court.

We then smashed the Rwanda plan, alongside Care4Calais and others. And now we have a simple message, that every time you push through a racist policy we fill fight it and we will win. Every time you spit fear and hatred in our communities we will fight it and we will win.
