Making a stand for fair pay

Lian explains why she is taking strike action.

In March next year I will have been with the DVSA for 20 years.

Today I found my original contract and my pay in March 2003 was £10.06 per hour. My hourly rate is now £13.88,  a measly increase of £3.82 per hour. This is what 20 years of working for the DVSA has given me.

So when difficult decisions have to be made around overtime and strike action, remember this example. This is the reason why we need to think long term and make a stand to get the pay rise we all deserve. We must strike now and stand strong to send the message that we deserve an above inflation pay increase.
