Strike action suspended at The Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime

PCS has officially announced the suspension of the scheduled strike at The Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime.

Almost 100 Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union members at The Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime (MOPAC) in London were set to strike for five days on September 20, 21, 22, 25 and 26 over their employer’s failure to pay a £1,500 cost-of-living payment.

The staff, who are responsible for the London equivalent of a regional Police and Crime Commission, oversee financial scrutiny of the London Metropolitan Police.

They won a 7% pay rise as a result of our national campaign but had decided to take action because the employer was not agreeing to pay the full amount of the cost-of-living crisis payment that had been paid by other government departments.

PCS general secretary, Mark Serwotka, said:

“Our dedicated members in MOPAC want Londoners to have the police service they want and deserve. So we are pleased that the employer has agreed to make the cost-of-living payment that they so desperately need.”
