Court security officers begin four-day strike tomorrow
PCS members employed by outsourced OCS take action over pay
Security officers in 149 courts across England and Wales tomorrow (Friday) start a four-day strike over pay.
Some courts have already announced they will be closed tomorrow, with more expected to follow suit as staff fail to turn up.
The almost 500 Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union members, employed by outsourced contractor OCS, are taking action tomorrow and on September 25, 27 and 29.
PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: “Our hard-working members, on the frontline in our courts, deserve a decent pay rise. OCS’s latest offer – just 38p above the National Living Wage – is not good enough.
“It’s insulting to offer them such a pittance during a cost-of-living crisis, especially when OCS last year made more than £4m profit.
“They should share some of that profit with the people who made them that money by working hard day in, day out.”
