Court security guards balloting for strike action over pay

PCS members employed by private contractor OCS could close courts across England and Wales

Security guards working in 144 courts across England and Wales are being balloted for strike action over pay and other issues.

Strikes by the 500 PCS members employed by private contractor OCS could see courts being closed because they are unsafe.

PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: “Our members work hard to keep our courts safe and to offer them a pay rise of 10p below the Real Living Wage is an outrage.

“OCS pays the Real Living Wage to its own staff, but not to our members working on an outsourced contract. At the very least they deserve pay parity with their colleagues.”
