600 JobCentre security guards to be balloted for further strike action

PCS members employed by G4S for the DWP walk out on Monday

Hundreds of JobCentre security guards – who are back out on strike on Monday – are to ballot for further industrial action over pay.

The nearly 600 Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union members employed by G4S for the DWP have already taken 27 days’ strike action and will walk out again for seven days on both September 9 and 23.

The new ballot will start on September 17, with the result expected on September 27.

PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “As G4S rake in profits, we’ve seen hundreds of our members left on the National Living Wage, denied a decent pay rise.

“We hope our members who every day risk their own safety to keep DWP staff and claimants safe will send a clear message to G4S to reject the company’s latest derisory pay offer.”
