The University and College Union (UCU) is consulting its members in further education, who are part of the teachers’ pensions scheme, with a view to joining the action.
PCS, NUT and UCU all took part in last year’s national one-day strikes in June and November.
The Fire Brigades Union are new to the joint action.
A statement issued by the FBU last week said: last week said: “The government's pension proposals are unacceptable and are consulting fire crews with a recommendation there is a rapid move to prepare a strike ballot. “
The national executives of the PCS and NUT agreed last Thursday (9 February) to hold consultative ballots – recommending a ‘yes’ vote for action – before holding the strike on 28 March.
