Meet to build for Labour demo

4 September 2009

Activists organising a lobby of the Labour party's annual conference are holding a public meeting to discuss the case for jobs, education and peace.

The event in London will bring together trade unionists from PCS, UCU, the NUT and the NUJ, and campaigners from the Right to Work campaign, Stop the War Coalition and Unite Against Fascism.

Timed to coincide with the next Vestas national day of action, there will also be a speaker from the occupation of the wind turbine factory on the Isle of Wight that ended on 7 August.

The meeting on Thursday 17 September will build support for the jobs, education and peace rally on Sunday 27 September to call for a change in direction over proposals to cut public spending.

As well as a PCS speaker, there will be contributions from:

The meeting will be at 7.30pm on Thursday 17 September 2009 at the London Welsh Centre, 157-163 Gray’s Inn Rd, London. Nearest tubes King’s Cross and Chancery Lane.
