If the coalition’s plans are approved the civil service pension scheme will adopt the state retirement age
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph the coalition’s formula for increasing the retirement age means babies born this year will receive their state pension at 80!
Research published last week by the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service revealed that 58% of people in the UK have a long standing illness or health problem by the age of 65.
The campaign was launched by PCS, the National Union of Teachers (NUT), and Unite.
It is also supported by the National Union of Students (NUS), Prison Officers’ Association (POA), Welsh teaching union UCAC, Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU), Rail Maritime and Transport union (RMT), and the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance (NIPSA).
’68 is too late’ is also supported by the National Pensioners Convention (NPC) and the Labour Representation Committee (LRC).
