Join the protest on May Day

27 April 2012

PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka is among the speakers at a May Day rally in Trafalgar Square.

May Day (1 May) is traditionally when workers across the world are united in their struggles and honoured. This year's London event resonates more than ever as we are in the middle of a massive battle with workers resisting attacks on pensions, jobs and conditions in the public and private sectors. The government is even hitting the disabled while the bankers get massive payouts. Workers across Europe and the world are fighting the same battles.

Mark will be joining the platform in Trafalgar Square at noon on Tuesday. Other speakers include Unite general secretary Len McCluskey, Michelle Stanistreet, general secretary of the National Union of Journalists, and Dot Gibson, general secretary of the National Pensioners Convention.

A march takes place from Clerkenwell Green - nearest Tube Farringdon - from noon.
