Philip Jennings, general secretary of Uni Global, which represents workers in 900 unions across the globe, has lent support to the PCS campaign at Atos.
In a letter to a senior UK manager, Mr Jennings called on the 2012 Olympics sponsor to negotiate with PCS in good faith. He called the company's profits "a gold medal performance", but insisted it is now time to "share that gold with the workers whose efforts make Atos' success possible". He also criticises the company's refusal to pay the workers a living wage
which is only £8.30 an hour in London and £7.20 per hour in the rest of the UK.
Showing solidarity with PCS members he called the efforts of Atos workers "an Olympic performance every day of the year" and backed the union's demand that the company become a living wage employer.
The Uni Global intervention and support is particularly important as Atos is a French company and PCS will be looking on Uni's French trade union affiliates to support the union in this dispute.
The PCS ballot for action against the company's below inflation pay offer began on 12 July and closes on Friday 27 July - members are urged to vote to support action.
