TUC national demonstration against the cuts, London 26 March 2011

17 December 2010

As you will hopefully be aware the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has called a national demonstration in London on 26 March 2011 in London in defence of jobs and public services.

It is anticipated that the trade union movement as a whole will mobilise up to one million people for this demonstration. But this will only happen if we put the work in to get people there. PCS have been leading the call to get this off the ground. Members and non-members in the MoD group are right in the firing line of the government’s cuts. This is our opportunity to clearly show our opposition.

As a group we have set an achievable target of getting at least 1,000 members, family and friends to be on this demonstration. With the threat of 25,000 job losses hanging over us it is in all our interests that we add out voice to this demonstration.

We are encouraging all branches to play their part in seeking volunteers from all of their workplaces to go on this demonstration. There will be transport laid on from a number of locations in each PCS region but we need to get an idea of numbers as soon as possible from each branch so that arrangements can be made.

If you are interested in attending, please email Mike Jones, the PCS MoD group organiser at mikej@pcs.org.uk
